The hotel and country-restaurant "Hammermuehle" (hammer mill) is located in Donaustauf / Bavaria, about 12 km east of the old town of Regensburg. This historic town is the district capital of Oberpfalz, which was founded by the Romans as "Castra Regina", and is the home to many famous buildings such as its cathedral (13th - 16th century) and the more than 800 year old scenic, stone bridge that majestically spans the Danube river.

Since 1938 the family Schmid has run this charming country-restaurant, which is now in its third generation of proud ownership. During spring of 2000, the new hotel was opened featuring upgraded, luxury rooms with many added features.

The restaurant and hotel are situated near the preserve belonging to the dynasty of "Thurn und Taxis", which is today used by the Golf and Country Club Regensburg (only 300 meters away from our house).

Bavaria's hall of fame, "Walhalla", which hosts the busts of many important people who were associated with Germany's long and remarkable history, is only 1.5 km away.

Our country-restaurant disposes of three rooms and the "Biergarten" (open-air-restaurant). For festivities we offer:

• one room for up to 25 guests,
• another one for up to 40 guests,
• and a hall for 150 guests, ideal for 60 up to 120 persons.
• The naturally grown ,,Biergarten" on the banks of creek Otterbach and its cascade offers space for up to 400 guests. In the shadow of old trees you may enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, our cuisine and cold drinks.
